Kenyan international striker Michael Olunga opened his account for Al Duhail SC by scoring a hat-trick to beat Al Ahli Doha 6-0 to push the Qatar side to the quarter-finals of the 2021 Amir Cup.

Olunga, who joined Al Duhail from Japanese top league side Kashiwa Reysol just a fortnight ago, netted a penalty in the sixth minute and followed it with a second in the 43rd minute.

The ‘Engineer’ completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute to push his side towards sealing Al Hali Doha’s fate.

He failed to find the net during his first two shows against Al Sadd and Qatar SC after joining the side from Kashiwa Reysol in Japan where he was crowed top scorer in the J1-League.

Olunga put his side ahead by 1-0 from the spot in the sixth minute after Brazilian international Eduardo Pereira Rodrigues was brought down in the box after receiving a pass from Olunga.

In the penalty, the Kenyan sent the goalkeeper the wrong way with a commanding shot by the J1 League Player of the Year 2020 and Golden Boot winner 2020.

Brazilian international Edmilson Junior Paulo doubled the scoring lead for the Amir Cup reigning champions from an assist from Rodrigues after a poor pass 16 minutes later.

Paulo supplied Olunga with a neat pass two minutes to half time finished with a superb header.

He got his hat-trick on the 69th minute followed by one by Luiz Martin Ceara in the 78th minute making the score a clear 5-0.

Edmilson completed the massacre of Al Ahli Doha by touching the net in the 90th minute after the club’s Ghanaian defender John Benson was sent off the pitch five minutes before full time.

Olunga joined Al Duhail SC, the 2019-2020 Qatar Stars League champions, on January 12.
