Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has blasted the move by ousted Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa to regain control of the federation offices.

Amina has termed the move by Mwendwa and other FKF officials to forcefully regain entry and control of the FKF Goal Project headquarters in Kasarani on Tuesday as a break in.

In a press statement sent to newsrooms, the CS maintained that the said football officials led by Mwendwa remained indicted following a decision made by the High Court in May.

“My attention has been drawn to a break-in at the FKF offices at Kasarani. The information is that the break-in was led by indicted FKF officials, who were legally removed following an inspection by the Office of the Sports Registrar,” said Amina in the statement.

The High Court, in a decision rendered by Justice Hedwig Ongudi, had in May upheld the decision by the Ministry of Sports to disband the Mwendwa-led FKF in November 2021.

After FKF officials were ejected from office, Amina appointed a 15-member Caretaker Committee led by Justice (Rtd) Aaron Ringera to manage the affairs of the federation.

Among issues singled out for the decision to indict FKF officials include financial irregularities, unprocedural hiring and firing of coaches and mismanagement of the sport.

After his suspension, Mwendwa was charged at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court with fraud following accusations of abusing office and swindling cash from the football authority.
