Ferdinand Omanyala, the Commonwealth and Africa 100metres champion, on Wednesday shattered his own 60m indoor national record at the Mondeville Meeting in France.

Omanyala managed to clock a time of 6.55 seconds to triumph in the men’s 60m final at the Mondeville competition to erase his own preceding record by 0.2 seconds.

The Kenyan sprint sensation beat Ivorian Arthur Cisse, who finished second position in 6.59sec, and also pushed Charles Dobson of Britain to the third position with 6.61sec.

He finished second during the heats in 6.63sec behind Briton Andrew Robertson as his close competitor Cisse clinched his heat in 6.57sec paving the way for their faceoff in the final.

In the Mondeville last year, Omanyala clocked 6.66sec in the heat and 6.68sec in the Silver Label event finals that propelled him to make a return this year to claim the top slot.

He is now eyeing the Silver Label race, Meeting de Paris, on Saturday before he finishes the tour with the Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais at Arena Stade Couvert, Liévin on February 15.

Still at the Mondeville, Alex Ng’eno of Kenya clocked in third in the men's 800m final in 1:50.38 behind Spaniard Javier Miron in 1:49.50 and Englishman Daniel Rowden in 1:49.52.
