Legendary footballer Sergio Ramos is set to exit Real Madrid after 16 years having bagged 671 games, 101 goals, five league titles and four European Cups.

The news was shared through the club’s official website on Thursday, June 17 to mark his farewell ceremony. His contract will officially expire 13 days from today, Thursday.

The 35-year-old opted for a free transfer after he was unable to reach a mutual agreement with the club’s president, Florentino Pérez.

“Real Madrid announces that tomorrow, Thursday, June 17 at 1230hrs, an act of tribute and farewell to our captain Sergio Ramos will be held which will be attended by our President Florentino Perez.” A statement from the club read.

“Ramos will then appear before the media in a virtual press conference.”

The centre back’s final destination still remains unknown. He, however, would be moving to a new team as he revealed that he is not planning to retire any time soon.

Rumours have it that Ramos might be poached by rival teams either Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Sevilla.

Ramos has a record-breaking 191 cards in La Liga, 20 of them being red cards. That is also a record for the Spanish top flight.

He is also the most-booked player ever in all major European divisions.
