It is more reward, for Timothy Cheruiyot, Tokyo Olympics 1500m silver medalist as he gets promoted to a senior position at his workplace.

Cheruiyot was promoted from the position of Chief Inspector of prisons to Senior Superintendent of prison.

President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a directive for his promotion following his outstanding performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

This comes after Uhuru hosted representatives of the triumphant Kenyan team to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and announced hefty cash rewards.

Cheruiyot came second clocking 3:29.01 just a few moments behind Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen who managed to clock 3:28.32. British national Josh Kerr followed him in the third position at 3:29.05. Fellow Kenyan Abel Kipsang came fourth clocking 3:29.56.
