Bukayo Saka has received sickening racist abuse in the immediate aftermath of his penalty miss in the Euro 2022 Championship finals on Sunday.  

The Arsenal star had come on as a substitute and took the ultimate penalty, which Gianluigi Donnarumma saved to hand the European title to Italy. 

Sadly, the 19-year-old has received several sickening racial fits of abuse on an Instagram story he posted a day before the final. He was targeted with racial language and emojis. One of the users wrote, "Get out of my country," and another said, "Go back to Nigeria."

At the time of writing this, Instagram was yet to issue a statement.

The Football Association of England said it doesn't condone such racial behaviour and urged social media companies to do more and weed out racism.

'We could not be clearer that anyone behind such disgusting behaviour is not welcome in following the team,' said the FA in a statement.

'We will do all we can to support the players affected while urging the toughest punishments possible for anyone responsible.

'We will continue to do everything we can to stamp discrimination out of the game, but we implore the government to act quickly and bring in the appropriate legislation so this abuse has real-life consequences.

'Social media companies need to step up and take accountability and action to ban abusers from their platforms, gather evidence that can lead to prosecution and support in making their platforms free from this type of abhorrent abuse.' 

Saka has been one of the shining stars for England during the just concluded tournament.
