Kenyans have reacted sharply after 1500 meters race athlete Kamar Etyang went to social media to lament over his controversial removal from Kenya's Tokyo Olympic list.

Etyang posted that despite emerging second in the trials for 1500m held at Kasarani Sports Center, he is set to miss the team Kenya headed for Japan.

Etyang narrated how he had worked so hard to achieve his dream but some unnamed people were hell-bent on killing it by removing him from the list.

According to Athletics Kenya’s team selection criteria, the first 2 athletes to cross the finish line for any trial races automatically qualified to join the Kenyan team to Tokyo Olympics.

However, reports say AK is likely to replace Etyang with Timothy Cheruiyot on the technicality that he never underwent the mandatory Anti-doping education and testing.

Swala Nyeti has taken a quick peek at the official Olympic site and the teen's name still makes the list of the Kenyan team headed for Tokyo under the 1500m race category.

Among Kenyans who reacted in support of the 19-year-old athlete was the MP for Ainabkoi Constituency William Chepkut.

Chepkut took to his Twitter account to condemn the move to remove Etyang from the Kenyan national athletics team.

The lawmaker termed the move as impunity of the highest order.

He also questioned why Etyang was never tested enough times to be in the national team and why he was allowed to take part in the trials in the first place.

Athletics Kenya is yet to issue an official statement on the escalating issue.
