Harambee Stars and Al-Duhail professional striker Michael Olunga has partnered with a local betting company, OdiBets to assist Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi to offset his hospital bill.
Patrick Matasi made a public appeal to well-wishers to help him raise money to pay for his medical fees.
He was admitted at the Kakamega County and Referral Hospital on June 1, 20214 following a grisly accident he was involved in at Lessos along the Nakuru-Kapsabet road.
He was discharged after a few days leaving his wife and son at the hospital still receiving treatment.
Matasi was in the vehicle with his wife, son, cousin and brother in law when the accident happened and they all sustained injuries.

His wife and son were booked to undergo surgery and have been in hospital since as the bill continued pilling up.
The hospital bill had accumulated to Sh429,000 which Matasi was not able to pay.
The goalkeeper took to his social media accounts to make an appeal for financial assistance.
His prayers were answered today when his teammate Olunga, through his Michael Olunga Foundation partnered with OdiBets and other friends to help him offset the bill.
Olunga visited Matasi’s family at the Kakamega County and Referral Hospital and he had the following to say:
“I have partnered with my good friends, OdiBets to come and clear my teammate’s hospital bill and that of his family,” said Olunga.
“Matasi is a good friend of mine and I wish him a quick recovery and that of his family,” he added.
Accompanying Olunga was OdiBet Country Marketing Manager Aggrey Sayi. Sayi said that they had to come out and help Matasi once they heard about the accident.
“Matasi has always been a maestro on the pitch and when we heard about the accident that had occurred, we had to come out and help him,” said Sayi.
Apart from Matasi’s medical bill, The Michael Olunga Foundation also offset bills amounting to Sh500,000 for other patients who could not afford to do so.
