Christian Eriksen speaks out for the first time after cardiac arrest during match

Inter Milan player Christian Eriksen has spoken publicly for the first time after he suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s game versus Finland on June 12.

Eriksen collapsed in the football field at the 40th minute causing panic in the stadium and immediately paramedics arrived and performed CPR on him and used a defibrillator to resuscitate him.

He was later rushed to hospital and treated with doctors announcing he was in stable condition.

It was also reported that the Inter Milan player had been in touch with his teammates and resumed the game later after the incident caused it to be postponed earlier.

The 29-year-old star, who for the first time spoken through his agent, thanked everyone who came to his aid on that fateful day.

“Thank you, I won’t give up. I feel better now – but I want to understand what’s happened. I want to say thank you all for what you did for me,” he said.

However, it still remains unclear what exactly caused his cardiac arrest.

His doctor, Dr Morten Boesen, who also doubles up as Denmark’s team doctor, detailed the severity of the situation and praised the work of the medics involved that ensure the player was safe.

“He was gone. How close were we? I don’t know. When I got to him he was on his side, he was breathing. I could feel a pulse, but suddenly that changed and we started to give him CPR. The help came really fast from the medical team and the rest of the staff with their co-operation, and we did what we had to do and managed to get Christian back.

“We don’t have any explanation why it happened. The details about what happened I am not quite sure of because I am not a cardiologist, I will leave that to the experts. I didn’t see it live, only on screens afterwards.”
