Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for Covid-19.

According to Portugal official statement, the Portuguese international has left the Portugal squad to self-isolate after he was confirmed to have contracted the Coronavirus.

35-year-old Ronaldo was reportedly released from the Portugal national team assignment as soon as his Covid-19 status was established.

The Juventus forward is reported to be feeling well and has been asymptomatic and will now miss the clash between Portugal and Sweden.

"Cristiano Ronaldo was released from the work of the National Team after a positive test for COVID-19, so he will not face Sweden,” said Portugal's Football Federation in a statement.

"The Portuguese international is doing well, without symptoms, and in isolation.

The rest of the Portugal team is said to have returned negative tests and are available for selection for coming international assignment.

"Following the positive case, the remaining players underwent new tests this Tuesday morning, all with a negative result, and are available to Fernando Santos for training this afternoon, in the City of Football,” the statement went on.

Portugal is taking on Sweden in the Nations League on Wednesday night.

Ronaldo played the full 90-minute game in Portugal's goalless draw with France in Paris on Sunday after featuring against Spain in Lisbon last week Thursday.
