A convict who is reported to have recently tested positive for Covid-19 died on Monday in a police cell in Kuria West, Migori County.
A police report says the 32-year-old convict identified as Samwel Marwa was convicted on April 1 then tested positive for Coronavirus before being placed under medical care.
According to Kuria West sub-county Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the virus prevented police from taking Marwa, who was in isolation, to serve his sentence at Migori GK Prison.
Kimaiyo says the convict was recovering well before he collapsed in police cells on Sunday at around 2pm and he was attended to and stabilized by medical officers.
