The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption at the Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway.

This disruption is set to facilitate the construction of a pedestrian underpass and will begin on Thursday, continuing until February 20, 2025.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway  (A8) Road.," KeNHA stated.

"This traffic disruption is due to scheduled road works for construction of a pedestrian underpass at the section which will commence from Thursday to February 20, 2025."

In a public notice issued on Monday, KeNHA urged motorists to follow a proposed traffic management plan during this period and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals stationed at the site.

"KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," the notice read.

The project aims to enhance pedestrian safety and streamline traffic flow along one of Nairobi’s busiest highways.

KeNHA provided a plan mapping out the proposed alternative routes while emphasising the need for public cooperation to minimise inconvenience during the construction phase.

Motorists and commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly as delays are anticipated at the affected section.

The authority assured the public that it is working to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe to restore normalcy to the area.
