Kirinyaga County played host to a delegation from Machakos County on Thursday as they embarked on a benchmarking tour of their healthcare service delivery.
Led by the acting County Executive Committee for Health, Justus Kasivo, the visit was inspired by Governor Wavinya Ndeti's recent tour of the state-of-the-art Kerugoya Medical Complex.
Impressed by Kirinyaga's successful healthcare model, Governor Ndeti expressed her commitment to replicating similar standards in Machakos.
She announced plans to build a public hospital that rivals the county's largest private institutions.
The Machakos team, comprised of senior health officials, toured various departments within the Kerugoya Medical Complex, which was opened last year and has garnered widespread praise for its modern infrastructure and efficient operations.

"Our governor was deeply impressed by Kirinyaga's healthcare facilities during her visit," explained CEC Kasivo.
"We are here to learn from their best practices and apply them to enhance our own services in Machakos."
The county's Chief Officer of Health Facilities and Infrastructure, Rashid Kara, highlighted Kirinyaga's significant strides in healthcare service delivery and infrastructure.
He expressed particular interest in understanding their revenue collection strategies and digitized healthcare management system.
Kirinyaga County has emerged as a leader in the pursuit of Universal Healthcare, implementing innovative approaches such as the Hospital Management Integrated System to ensure accountability and transparency.
Dr. Mureithi Nyaga, Kirinyaga County's Chief Officer of Medical Services, welcomed the Machakos delegation and expressed the county's willingness to share insights.
He noted the substantial increase in patient numbers since the opening of the Kerugoya Medical Complex, with daily outpatient visits reaching up to 600.
The Kerugoya Medical Complex has become a beacon of healthcare excellence, attracting benchmarking delegations from various counties seeking to replicate its success.
