The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has issued a public advisory regarding the temporary closure of several major roads in Nairobi on Sunday.
This closure is necessitated by the highly anticipated Grand Nairobi Bike Race, which will take place between 6:00 AM and 2:00 PM on the same day.
The affected roads include sections of Langata Road, Uhuru Highway, Haile Selassie Avenue, Bunyala Road, and Lower Hill Road.
"We wish to notify the general public that sections of Langata Road, Uhuru Highway, Haille Sellasie Avenue, Bunyala Road and Lower Hill Road, will be closed on Sunday 29th, September 2024 as from 6 AM-2 PM," KURA announced.
"This is due to the Grand Nairobi Bike Race scheduled to take place on Sunday, 29th September, 2024."

The authority urges motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and to consider using alternative routes.
To manage traffic flow, motorists are advised to “follow guide by traffic police and marshals.”
In a statement to the public, KURA expressed regret over the potential inconvenience, stating, “We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the event.”
Participants and spectators of the Grand Nairobi Bike Race are expected to bring vibrant energy to the city, and the road closures are part of efforts to ensure the event runs smoothly without compromising safety.
Motorists and residents are encouraged to be aware of the scheduled times and make the necessary adjustments to avoid disruptions.
With increased activity on these roads, organisers and local authorities will be working closely to ensure the success of the event while minimising disruption to daily commutes.
