In a surprise move that has sent ripples through the political landscape, President William Ruto has unveiled a new cabinet lineup that includes a significant number of ministers previously dismissed from their positions.

Six of the eleven individuals nominated for cabinet secretary positions on Friday were part of the previous administration but were relieved of their duties under unclear circumstances.

Among those making a comeback are Kithure Kindiki, who retains his former role as Interior Cabinet Secretary, and Aden Duale, who has been nominated for the Defence docket.

The announcement, made during a televised address from the State House came amidst a period of heightened political tension triggered by nationwide protests.

Ruto attributed the decision to form a new cabinet to the need for a "broad-based" approach to address the country’s challenges.

“It Cannot be denied that Our nation has been In a crisis caused by multiple and complex factors. Neither can we turn away from recognizing That the opportunity before us is greater," Ruto state.

"We have a chance To take our country where we all wanted to be And make our nation. We want A great Nation For this reason. I have consulted extensively. On They need to enhance broaden. And deepen, the national economic turn around plan, set out in the bottom of economic transformation. Agenda To incorporate a wider range of ideas, programs and interventions That will facilitate Job creation, robust date management. Enhanced transparency accountability in the use of public resources."

Ruto indicated that further consultations are underway with other entities across the political divide to complete the cabinet composition and that a detailed roadmap outlining the government’s priorities will be released next week.
