The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued two significant public notices regarding temporary road closures in Nairobi, affecting key sections of the Nairobi Southern Bypass and Uhuru Highway (A8).

The closures are scheduled to commence on December 27, 2023, and will last until January 23, 2024, and from December 28, 2023, to January 1, 2024, respectively.

Nairobi Southern Bypass Section Closure for Virtual Weighbridge Installation:

A vital stretch of the Nairobi Southern Bypass, spanning between Lang'ata Interchange and Ngong Interchange, will experience temporary closure in both bounds.

The closure is imperative for the execution of construction works for the installation of a Virtual Weighbridge along this critical section.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the Public that a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass (both bounds) between Lang'ata Interchange and Ngong Interchange will be closed," KeNHA said in a notice.

"The closure will commence this December 27, 2023 to January 23, 2024. This is to allow for construction works for installation of Virtual Weighbridge along the section."

To mitigate potential traffic disruptions, the closure will be carried out methodically, with one lane from each carriageway closed at a time.

Motorists are advised to utilize the available lane on each carriageway in both directions during this period.

Additionally, the KeNHA has announced temporary partial closures at five prominent roundabouts along Uhuru Highway (A8).

These roundabouts include Nyayo Stadium, Bunyala, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue, and University Way.

The closure, in effect from December 28, 2023, to January 1, 2024, aims to facilitate critical maintenance works along these sections.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the Public that there will be temporary partial closure at five (5) roundabouts along Uhuru Highway (A8). These roundabouts are: Nyayo Stadium, Bunyala, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue and University Way," KeNHA notice read.

"This closure will commence from December 28, 2023 to January 1, 2024 both days inclusive. This is to allow for highway maintenance works along these sections."

Motorists navigating this route are advised to exercise caution as some lanes will be closed, necessitating shared lanes for traffic flow.
