In response to a decade-long struggle with inadequate facilities and infrastructure, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced a comprehensive plan to revitalize the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The move comes as a recognition of the pivotal role aviation infrastructure plays in ensuring reliable and high-quality passenger and cargo operations.

KAA in a statement issued on Wednesday claimed that over the past 10 years, it has grappled with a lack of substantial upgrades, forcing temporary measures to become permanent solutions and leading to service disruptions.

In addressing this pressing issue, the Government has initiated a robust plan to enhance the airport's infrastructure, focusing on the expansion of the passenger terminal, augmenting runway capacity, and providing additional aircraft parking bays.

Henry Ogoye, the Acting Managing Director and CEO of the Kenya Airports Authority emphasized the urgency of these developments, stating, "The current state of affairs demands decisive action. We acknowledge the concerns of the public, and the Board, Management, and Staff of the Kenya Airports Authority are committed to implementing the Government's civil aviation investment program.
