The trio of armed robbers, armed with an AK-47 rifle, a Rambo sword, and a machete, had embarked on their criminal mission, unaware of the meticulous investigation that had led the authorities to their doorstep.

Their choice of transportation, a TVS motorcycle believed to be their getaway vehicle, proved to be their downfall as they engaged in a high-stakes chase spanning from Migori to Kisii.

The pursuit was initiated after authorities received information regarding the impending attack.

Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau meticulously analyzed the modus operandi of the terror gang, drawing from their previous criminal activities.

With this intelligence, they set out to apprehend the culprits, determined to prevent the imminent threat to public safety.

The operation team exhibited unwavering resolve as they trailed the armed suspects for over 60 kilometres, ultimately intercepting them at Corner Mbaya area in Kisii.

Despite multiple orders to surrender, the suspects remained defiant, prompting the officers to open fire, ultimately resulting in the fatal injuries of all three individuals.

The successful operation yielded significant evidence, including the recovered AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 21 bullets, a Rambo dagger, a machete, and the TVS motorcycle bearing registration number KMGH 656X.

One of the suspects was identified as 27-year-old Joseph Mwita, hailing from Kuria in Migori, while the identities of the other two individuals, believed to be in their 30s, remain pending verification at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
