Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended two individuals, Samuel Morara Nyambane and Joseph Murimi Njue, who were charged with impersonating public service personnel at the Kiambu Law Courts.

The suspects were arrested during an encounter at the DCI Headquarters, where they presented themselves as officers from the Directorate of Military Intelligence and the National Intelligence Service, with the intention of seeking assistance in apprehending a suspect.

The incident unfolded as the two individuals expressed their grievances regarding an ongoing case of obtaining money by false pretence, which was allegedly registered at the Central Police Station in Nairobi.

"The two had cited frustrations from the Investigating officer in a case of obtaining money by false pretence that was allegedly recorded at Central Police Station, Nairobi," the DCI said.

Detectives, however, displayed a sense of caution and prudence, prompting them to request the suspects to produce their identification documents for verification.

In a bid to outwit the investigators, Nyambane and Njue claimed they had inadvertently left their identification documents behind.

Nevertheless, their reluctance to comply led to further scrutiny of their backgrounds, ultimately leading to their arrest and subsequent arraignment.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Nyambane and Njue are believed to be part of a larger group of swindlers who have been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public through their impersonation tactics.

The DCI has issued a warning to anyone who may have fallen victim to the fraudulent activities of these two individuals, urging them to come forward and report their experiences at the DCI Headquarters.

The incident highlights the importance of verifying the authenticity of individuals who claim to be public servants or officials from various government agencies, as this can prevent unsuspecting citizens from becoming victims of criminal activities.

As the investigation into this case continues, the DCI remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the public by apprehending individuals engaged in fraudulent schemes and bringing them to justice.

"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations wishes to inform any persons who may have fallen victim of the two to report at the DCI Headquarters," the DCI said.
