Parliament Road: Closed from Harambee Avenue Roundabout to the City Hallway Roundabout.
These closures will commence on Monday, September 4th, at 2:00 a.m. and are expected to last until Wednesday, September 6th, at 6:00 p.m.
The road closures are anticipated to result in significant traffic congestion, affecting several other major routes throughout Nairobi.
This inconvenience is primarily due to the prioritized accommodation arrangements for the 30,000 plus international delegates attending the summit.
To accommodate the influx of VIPs, delegates, and participants, a total of 58 hotels have been designated for their stay.
Many of these hotels are strategically located along key routes, including Mombasa Road, Waiyaki Way, and Limuru Road.
These roadways are likely to experience increased traffic as a result of the summit.
Additionally, some delegates will be hosted in hotels along Thika Road and Ngong Road, which are expected to see temporary traffic disruptions.
Parking spaces within the vicinity of the summit's venues, including The Sunken parking near KenyaRe, Supreme Court, Holy Family Basilica, and Charter Hall, will be closed to public use during the event for security purposes.
In light of these preparations, the Matatu Welfare Association has assured the public that Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) will continue to operate in collaboration with the police to minimize inconvenience for Nairobi residents.
The Nairobi Police Department has issued advisories to guide residents during the summit dates, urging them to plan their routes and travel schedules accordingly to avoid traffic congestion.
These precautions are essential to ensure the success of the African Climate Summit and to minimize disruptions to the daily lives of the city's inhabitants.
