Legendary golfer Tiger Woods has been hospitalised after being involved in a single-car accident on Tuesday morning.

According to US media reports, Woods sustained serious injuries after the vehicle he was in rolled over in the accident in Los Angeles County.

US media reports that the "jaws of life" was required to rescue him from the rolled over car, this is according to the LA County Sheriff's Department (LASD).

The sheriff's department has however clarified that Woods was the only one in the vehicle when it rolled over and he had been taken to hospital for medical attention over his injuries.

It is unclear what caused the early Tuesday accident.

The department revealed that the car had minor damages and police have launched an investigation into what might have caused the crash by the world’s best golfer.
