Some traders at popular Nairobi Bus Station are counting losses after a fire broke out and destroyed their valuables of unknown value.
The incident happened on Friday evening just a few minutes before 11:00 p.m.
According to witnesses reports, sparks from a welding machine which was being used to repair a bugler-proof door of one shop landed on some clothes causing the fire.
Good Samaritans and other traders who had not yet retired for the day swiftly worked together and extinguished the fire before it could spread to other shops
However, in the ensuing confusion, some unscrupulous individuals took advantage of the situation and stole some clothes while they were pretending to help put out the fire.
Luckily, after a combined effort the fire was finally extinguished before it could cause further destruction albeit by crude means that also posed a threat to the day's fire fighters who were oblivious to the impending hazards such as electricity.
