In a move aimed at addressing the growing need for affordable housing and promoting local development, President Ruto has initiated a new low-cost housing project in Kirinyaga County.

The project, comprising 110 housing units, was officially launched in Kianyaga Town, Gichugu Constituency, and is set to occupy a 1.5-acre piece of land.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony attended by President Ruto, Kirinyaga County Governor, Anne Waiguru, expressed her gratitude for the President's commitment to bolstering the county's development efforts.

She emphasized that these new housing units would not only provide decent and affordable shelter for beneficiaries but also create job opportunities for hundreds of local residents involved in the various construction phases.

Governor Waiguru highlighted a parallel ongoing project in Kerugoya Town, where approximately 600 housing units are in the pipeline.

This concerted effort by the government underscores its commitment to addressing housing challenges across the county.

President Ruto outlined the government's broader vision, aiming to establish a total of 10,000 affordable housing units in Kirinyaga County.

He reaffirmed his support for Kirinyaga's progress, citing the allocation of a matching grant of Sh250 million for the upcoming Sagana Industrial Park, as well as an additional Sh5 billion to facilitate the industrial park's construction, set to commence later this year.

In a bid to enhance local infrastructure and services, President Ruto extended his backing to Governor Waiguru's administration.

He pledged to contribute to the rehabilitation of the General Kasam Stadium and the installation of 15 milk coolers to bolster dairy farming in the region.

Governor Waiguru reciprocated by committing Sh00 million for the stadium's refurbishment, with the national government providing supplementary funding.

Acknowledging the critical healthcare needs of the county, President Ruto assured the completion and equipping of the upcoming Kianyaga Level Four Hospital Complex.

He earmarked Sh200 million for this initiative, further underlining his commitment to comprehensive healthcare services for the local community.

Additionally, Sh60 million will be allocated for the procurement of medical kits for community health workers.

As part of their collective commitment to agriculture, Governor Waiguru announced plans to establish sub-county level stores for the distribution of subsidized fertilizer, simplifying access for farmers and boosting agricultural productivity.

In his address, President Ruto reiterated his stance on nonviolent politics and dispelled rumors of a potential handshake with the opposition.

He remained steadfast in his dedication to national development, defending his visits to various regions across the country.

The president dismissed criticisms of his visit to Mt. Kenya, reaffirming his unwavering support for development initiatives aimed at uplifting local communities.

The housing project's launch and the President's multifaceted promises highlight a coordinated effort to propel Kirinyaga County towards a more prosperous and sustainable future.

With these initiatives, the partnership between the national government and local administration is poised to yield lasting benefits for residents across the county.
