The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a traffic advisory notifying the public about a temporary closure of a crucial section of the Mombasa-bound carriageway along the A8 Road.

The affected stretch spans from Mlolongo, near the expressway exit, to the Athi River Interchange.

This closure is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, 11th July to Sunday, 16th July 2023, between the hours of 10:00 pm and 4:00 am each day.

According to KeNHA's notice, regular traffic flow will be reinstated promptly at 4:30 am upon completion of the maintenance works.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of a section of the Mombasa-bound carriageway between Mlolongo (near expressway exit) to Athi River Interchange from Tuesday 11th to Sunday 16th July, 2023 between 10:00pm and 4:00am," KeNHA notice read.

"Normal traffic shall be restored daily upon completion of works at 4.30am."

The primary purpose of this temporary closure is to facilitate essential maintenance activities along this particular section of the highway.

By undertaking these maintenance works, KeNHA aims to ensure the safety and integrity of the road infrastructure, enhancing the overall travel experience for motorists in the long term.

During the closure period, motorists travelling towards Mombasa will be directed to share a single lane on the adjacent carriageway.

As a result, it is imperative that drivers exercise extreme caution while navigating through this area.

KeNHA strongly advises all motorists to adhere to the traffic signs and guidance provided by both the traffic marshals and the police personnel deployed on-site.

"Motorists are advised to approach the section with caution and to follow the traffic signs and guidance as directed by traffic Marshall and Police," the notice read.

This temporary traffic diversion may cause delays and increased congestion, particularly during the specified closure hours.

Motorists are encouraged to stay updated on any further developments or changes through official channels and local media outlets.
