In a passionate appeal to African leaders, President William Ruto called for a united effort to drive the continent's development agenda.

Speaking during a joint session of the Congolese Parliament on Friday, President Ruto emphasized the need for implementing policies and legislation that would unlock Africa's potential and create opportunities for its people.

"It is the right time to engage Africa's leaders for the purpose of mobilizing a firm African position on issues that are directly connected with our collective aspirations," stated  Ruto.

He highlighted Africa's abundant resources and opportunities, asserting that the continent has the potential to spearhead a clean, just, and inclusive prosperity that would benefit both the region and the world at large.

Ruto underlined the importance of infrastructure development and the elimination of visa and trade barriers to stimulate free trade across the continent.

He stressed the significance of speaking with one voice, urging African leaders to advocate for collective climate action on a global scale.

"African countries must not have to choose between their development needs and climate action," President Ruto lamented.

He further noted the pressing need for reforms in multinational financial institutions to address the debt crisis that continues to burden the continent.

"If we do not solve the debt issue, it will be impossible to address the climate crisis," he warned.

During his two-day state visit to the Republic of Congo, President Ruto was received by President Denis Sassou Nguesso.

The visit provided an opportunity for bilateral discussions and strengthening ties between the two nations.

President Ruto's call to action resonates at a time when Africa is poised to harness its potential and overcome the challenges it faces.

With the collective efforts of African leaders and parliaments, the continent can pave the way for a prosperous future marked by sustainable development, economic growth, and environmental stewardship.
