Detectives from the DCI Starehe, in collaboration with a specialized team from the DCI Nairobi regional command, successfully apprehended five armed and dangerous individuals connected to the brutal murder of a 37-year-old woman.

The operation, which culminated in the arrests, also led to the recovery of a firearm. The suspects, who are believed to be responsible for a string of robberies across the city, were caught in the Kayole area of Nairobi.

The victim, identified as Beatrice Okumu, met a tragic end on the night of June 26. Having just closed her Mpesa shop at approximately 10 p.m., she was confronted by three criminals riding a motorbike.

These miscreants proceeded to rob her at gunpoint, mercilessly shooting her before making their escape. The lifeless body of Beatrice Okumu was left sprawled on the ground, surrounded by a pool of blood.

At the crime scene, investigators recovered two spent cartridges of 9mm calibre, providing valuable evidence for their ongoing investigation.

The swift and relentless pursuit of justice by the detectives led them to the suspects, Kevin Oduor alias Mande, John Chege alias Samir alias Chei, Leroy Omondi alias Leon Mutahi alias Issa, and Clifford Bogonko.

These individuals, now in police custody, have been linked not only to the cold-blooded murder but also to a series of reported robberies that have plagued various parts of the city over the past two months.

Furthermore, law enforcement officials impounded a white motorcycle, bearing registration number KMFH 073G, which belonged to one of the suspects. The motorcycle was being utilized as a getaway vehicle by the criminal gang.

The arrested suspects are currently being interrogated to assist detectives with their ongoing investigation. They will subsequently be arraigned in court to face charges relating to their alleged crimes.
