Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has made a groundbreaking announcement, revealing a significant reshuffle affecting 204 Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs) across all regions of the country.

This move marks the first major reorganization since the Kenya Kwanza administration assumed power following the General Election on August 9, 2022.

In an official press release issued by the ministry on Friday, it was confirmed that the changes would take effect immediately.

The reshuffle aims to streamline the administration and governance at the regional, county, and sub-county levels.

Among the notable transfers, Moranga Morekwa will assume duties in Mbita, while Joseph Kimutai will be stationed in Mathira East.

Harun Kamau will take up a new role in Etago, and Jackson Omondi will be responsible for Khwisero.

Paul Waweru will now serve as the P/A County Commissioner for Murang'a, with Dolphin Wanzala assuming duties in Kiminini.

Ahmed Somo will be stationed in Marakwet East, while Kennedy Mwangome will take charge of Narok Central.

Philip Kiplagat will assume the position in Embakasi, and Abraham Kemboi will be responsible for Luanda.

Furthermore, Geoffrey Tanui has been transferred to Loitktok, Ahmed Mohamud to Narok East, Lilian Jerop to Kesses, Rebecca Muturi to Mbeere North, Gideon Ombongi to Turkana South, and Hillary Koech to Habaswein.

Other appointments include Abaraham Laikera in Laikipia West, Stanley Mutua in Konoin, Anneta Mwangi in Tseikuru, and Titus Murei in Mandera North.

Several DCCs currently stationed at the ministry's headquarters have also been affected by the reshuffle. Wilson Ole Saaya has been moved to the position of Personal Assistant to the Central Regional Commissioner, while Gerald Mutuku assumes the role of PA/County Commissioner in Kitui.

John Chirchir will serve in Markwet West, David Lusava in Malindi, and Johnstone Kigen as the PA/Regional Commander in Nyanza. Philip Soy will take charge in Marigat, Grace Aketch in Kisii South, Elizabeth Ocholi in Seme, Stanley Kimanga in Buna, Patrick Musango in Isiolo, and Martin Mauki in Kieni East.

Additionally, several DCCs have been summoned to the ministry's headquarters from their current postings. Abdihakim Jubat from Trans-Mara South, Angela Makau from Ithanga, and Evans Wendot from PA to the Nairobi Regional Commissioner are among those affected.

This reshuffle comes approximately 16 months after the previous reorganization by former Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, which saw 132 DCCs being reassigned in February of last year.

The DCCs, operating under the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, play a crucial role in driving government affairs and policies at the regional, county, and sub-county levels.

The significance of this reshuffle lies in its potential to enhance administrative efficiency, optimize decision-making processes, and strengthen governance structures across the country.

As the newly appointed DCCs assume their responsibilities, the impact of these changes on the affected regions will undoubtedly be closely monitored by citizens.
