The man who “blew the whistle” on the ‘Covid millionaires’ expose, which aired on NTV has been taken to court for kidnapping.

Otieno Agutu was arraigned after the court rejected a bid by the Directorate of
Criminal Investigations (DCI) to hold him and two others for five days to
conclude their probe.
The
court instead permitted the DCI to keep in custody Agutu, Alex Mutua Mutuku and
Ken Kimathi for only one day.
The
three were apprehended at the Network Action Against Corruption offices on
Tuesday, after they allegedly took a bribe of Sh0.5 million from director of
Hi-tech Enterprise, Vijay Patel.
DCI
told the court the three and three others who have since gone into hiding
arrived at Patel’s shop in two cars on Sunday.

The trio allegedly posed as officials from the Kenya Revenue
Authority and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
According
to police, they reportedly accused Patel of evading tax and kidnapped him after
their bid to get a Sh2 million bribe from him flopped.
