President William Ruto delivered a compelling message during the National Prayer Breakfast held in Nairobi on Wednesday.

The president emphasised the importance of political aspirations in furthering justice, expanding freedom, and strengthening democracy and security in the country.

The event, attended by prominent leaders and officials, provided a platform for reflection and dialogue on critical issues affecting Kenya's progress.

In his address, Ruto called for a collective effort to reconcile diverse views and resolve disagreements, particularly regarding the Finance Bill.

“We must reconcile our diverse views and resolve the raging disagreement over the Finance Bil," Ruto said.

He stressed the need for leaders to refrain from weaponizing grievances, cautioning against harming vulnerable sections of society in pursuit of personal or political gains.

"Our commitment is under test; only bold decisions will make us unlock our potential,"  Ruto declared, highlighting the transformative phase that Kenya finds itself in.

With a resolute commitment to implementing affordable housing as a means to tackle unemployment and mitigate the growth of slums, the government aims to strike a balance between prudent financial management and ensuring the nation's prosperity.

The President urged leaders to rally around a shared vision of a strong, secure, and prosperous Kenya.

He emphasized that healthy competition should never be mistaken for sabotage, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the nation's welfare over individual political agenda.

"Although our ideas may differ, we must never wish that this nation fails, or that her people suffer, just to vindicate our politics," Ruto affirmed, emphasizing the imperative of unity in fostering national progress.

Among the dignitaries present at the event were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, First Lady Rachel Ruto, Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, Speaker of the Senate Amason Kingi, Attorney General Justin Muturi, Cabinet Secretaries, MPs, and other esteemed leaders.

Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion and the shared responsibility to propel Kenya towards a brighter future.

Deputy President Gachagua emphasized the importance of reconciling with the truth as a stepping stone to national advancement.

"That is how we will move our country forward," he asserted.

Mudavadi on his part reaffirmed the government's dedication to pro-people policies despite criticism from the opposition, underlining the commitment to uplift and empower all Kenyans.

Speaker of the National Assembly Wetang’ula called for a progressive approach to eradicate extreme poverty, emphasizing the necessity of collective action.

Speaker of the Senate Kingi echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need to collaborate and uplift the underprivileged sectors of society.

The event's guest speaker, Dr. Michael Hastings of the Scarisbrick, UK House of Lords, urged leaders to be accountable for their actions, acknowledging the expectations of citizens in addressing the challenges they face.

As Kenya continues its pursuit of political aspirations, President Ruto's call for justice, unity, and responsible leadership resonates deeply. The National Prayer Breakfast served as a powerful reminder that the choices made today will shape the nation's future, and it is only through bold decisions, reconciliation, and the pursuit of truth that Kenya can unlock its full potential and thrive as a prosperous nation.
