President William Ruto on Tuesday bid good-bye to outgoing British High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Mariott as her term in the country comes to an end on June 30, 2023.

Through a statement on his official Twitter account, the president wished Marriot the best in her next tour of duty for the British government terming the diplomat a friend of Kenya.

“At @StateHouseKenya, Nairobi, bade farewell to outgoing British High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Marriott. You have been a true friend of Kenya and we wish you the best of luck in your next tour of duty,” said Ruto in a tweet.


Marriott has been replaced by Desmond Patrick Neil Wigan, who had been serving as the British Ambassador to Israel from 2019, and he will take up his new job from July 1, 2023.


The outgoing British ambassador to Kenya is expected to take up a new diplomatic appointment from London after she says her final kwaheri to Kenyans at the end of June.
