A member of the clergy was arraigned before Wanguru Law Courts on Monday, where he faced charges of obtaining money through deceptive means.

The 'man of God' was by the police on suspicion of defrauding the ACK Mwea Town Church of a sum of Sh2 million, which was intended for the acquisition of new church seats.

On February 9, 2023, the church authorities engaged the services of Apostle Blessed Gilbert Kariuki and his spouse to provide 410 seats for the church, with a deadline set for April 10, 2023.

However, the aforementioned 'Man of God' failed to deliver the promised seats and did not make an appearance at the designated time.

According to reports filed by concerned members of the congregation at Wang'uru Police Station, the clergyman deceived them into parting with their money before vanishing without a trace.

All attempts to establish contact with him proved futile, leading the church vicar to report the incident to the relevant authorities.

The police swiftly took action, resulting in the successful arrest of the suspected individual.
