President William Ruto has finally opened up about his recent, noticeable and drastic weight loss.

During a joint media interview at State House Nairobi, the president was questioned about the reasons behind his noticeable transformation since taking office several months ago.

Responding to the query, Ruto attributed his weight loss to the immense pressure associated with campaigning for the 2022 general election.

He explained that the demanding nature of the campaign led to irregular eating patterns, often resulting in either overeating or consuming meals at unconventional hours.

“I had an original fit that ran amok the last one and a half to two years. We went into elections and you know when you have elections there is a lot of pressure, sometimes you take out the pressure on food,” Ruto said.

He further explained that the demands of his new role as President had led him to make a conscious decision to lose weight.

The Head of State stated that he recognized the demanding tasks ahead and emphasized the need to remain vigilant in order to ensure the smooth execution of his responsibilities.

"I decided to cut it down because my friend…I do not have an easy task. So you need to be alert for things to happen as planned," Ruto explained.

Ruto's response shed light on the demands of his role and the pressures of the political climate in Kenya and put to rest fears from a section of Kenyans about his health.
