In an interesting turn of events, the taxman has come to the rescue of televangelist Ezekiel Odero who is currently in the middle of the Shakahola saga.
The Kenya Revenue Authority has produced a document of proof confirming that Ezekiel's New Life Prayer Centre and Church have been filing relevant tax returns and paid taxes due as provided by law.
"This is to confirm that New Life Prayer Centre and Church, personal identification number P051523861H, has filed relevant tax returns and paid taxes due as provided by law," the KRA document read.
"This certificate will be valid for 12 months up to June 28, 2023," states the tax compliance certificate."
This comes after Attorney-General Justin Muturi on Wednesday during a meeting with the committee probing the Shakahola incidents claimed Ezekiel's organisation had not been filing tax returns recently.

On April, 27, 2023, Registrar of Societies, Jane Joram had already issued Pastor Ezekiel’s church and Pastor Paul Mackenzie’s Good News International Church have been served with a 30-day notice to show cause as to why they should not be closed for failing to comply with some regulations.
This new development raises questions about how a senior government official could make such claims without proof.
It begs the question of if Ezekiel's New Life Prayer Centre and Church still face closure for failing to file tax returns for past ten years as claimed.
