Prominent city lawyer and Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga’s aide, Silas Jakakimba, resigned from Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement and his advisory role at the Raila Odinga Secretariat.

In a letter addressed to the party, Jakakimba requested that his name be struck from the party register immediately.


“This is to inform your office that I have resigned, effective immediately, as (Life) Member of the ODM Party of Kenya, being Membership Number 00230 Kindly effect this decision, by striking out my name from the Party's Office Membership Register,” Jakakimba wrote.


In a separate letter to Raila, Jakakimba informed his party boss that he would be taking time off his role at Raila’s secretariat immediately.

"I take this opportunity to inform that I have taken the liberty to formally take time off the Advisory Role at the Raila Odinga Secretariat effective immediately," the letter partly read.


Jakakimba thanked Raila for the opportunity he had to work with the ODM leader on various matters and expressed his pride in the same.

“And I am privileged to share in the rare pride that I have been there with you as you waved several challenges to see to an overhaul of our then governance architecture into a new constitutional dispensation that codified Devolution at the very centre of our governance a Lasting Legacy that remains to stand on your Name through to yonder Generations,” Jakakimba wrote.


He also wished Raila, with whom he has worked since 2004, well in his endeavours.

“With so much Gratitude and Honour, Jakom, receive the assurances of my Highest Respect and Consideration and, Prayers for your continued Good Health and a Long Happy Life,” Jakakimba signed off.
