Pumwani Maternity Hospital is scheduled to receive new lifts, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced.

Sakaja shared photos of the new equipment that will be installed in the facility to facilitate movement across different floors revealing that the last time lifts were operational in the hospital was in the 1980s.

Sakaja stated that the installation of the new lifts aims to improve the experience of mothers in labor and delivery.

"We now have brand new lifts being installed," he said.

Apart from the lifts, Pumwani Maternity Hospital will also receive a brand new generator for power backup.

"Also, a brand new generator for power backup. The current one will be serviced and moved to Pumwani College of Nursing," Sakaja added.

The addition of the new lifts and generator is expected to upgrade the hospital's facilities and improve service delivery to the numerous expectant women in Nairobi county.
