The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says it has concluded its investigation into the puzzling death of interior designer Jeff Mwathi outside DJ Fatxo’s house in Nairobi.

DCI says it, on Wednesday afternoon, finished its probe into Mwathi’s death after he mysteriously fell from the 10th floor of Redwood Apartments house rented by Fatxo in Ruaraka.

The directorate said its Homicide Department closed the probe file after getting an autopsy report on the body of the interior designer from Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor.

The fresh investigation into Mwathi’s death on February 22, 2023, had been ordered by DCI Director Mohamed Amin after wide public outrage over the slow pace of probe.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has this afternoon completed investigations into the death of Jeff Mwathi, 23, who died on February 22, 2023, in unclear circumstances,” said DCI.

It added, “This is after the Homicide department, that has been investigating the incident

received an autopsy report from the government Pathologist and the government Chemist, following a fresh probe into the death as ordered by the DCI Director, Mr Mohamed Amin.”

DCI also disclosed that the completed investigation file was forwarded to Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji on Wednesday evening to peruse and advice on the way forward.

The 23-year old interior designer fell 10 floors down to his death after a night of clubbing with Nairobi mugithi singer and disc jockey, DJ Fatxo, who maintains he is innocent.
