Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has declared Friday April 21, 2023 as a public holiday.
Kindiki gazetted Friday as Idd-Ul-Fitr, a public holiday to commemorate the end of Ramadhan, the holy month of fasting in the Muslim calendar.

Cabinet Secretary @KindikiKithure declares Friday, 21st April, 2023 shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr,” said Kindiki in the statement released on Wednesday.
The Idd-Ul-Fitr festival is a critical religious holiday marked by Muslims across the world commemorating the end of Ramadhan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

The holiday commemorates the end of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting by all Muslims during the entire month of Ramadhan.
However, the date of Idd-Ul-Fitr is dependent on the sighting of the moon, hence there may be variations in the exact date that is celebrated across the globe.
