A woman who is alleged to have pushed her boyfriend off an apartment block in Ruaraka, Nairobi is facing murder charges after the man passed away at Kenyatta National Hospital.

36-year-old Celestine Adhiambo Oyeko is said to have assaulted Braiton Litoro before throwing him down a number of floors from the storeyed building in which they resided.

She was set to be charged with attempted murder at Makadara Law Courts on Friday but the Prosecution asked for more time to amend charges after police confirmed his death.

Adhiambo was initially set to be charged with unlawfully attempting to cause the death of Litoro by assaulting him together with someone else who was not availed before the court.

She will instead be charged with causing his death at Baba Dogo estate in Nairobi on March 15 together with a man who said to be her new lover and who has since gone into hiding.

The court learnt that she opted to end her relationship with Litoro and told him to move out of the house they shared but returned with his new catch and found him there on March 15 at around 11pm.

It is then that Adhiambo and her new lover allegedly descended on Litoro and assaulted him leaving him with serious wounds then threw him down an unspecified number of floors.

He was found by his father lying on the ground writhing in pain with a crowd gathered around him and rushed him to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Umoja estate.

He was later transferred to KNH’s Intensive Care Unit where he succumbed to his injuries.

Adhiambo will be detained in police cells until April 5 when she will be charged with murder before the High Court in Nairobi.
