Azimio Leader Raila Odinga held talks with a US delegation led by Senator Chris Coons to discuss political developments in the country.


Raila and Coon met on Wednesday evening, and both sides reached an agreement on the importance of upholding the constitution and the rule of law, as well as maintaining open communication channels.

Raila revealed some details of their discussion via his social media accounts.

“Had a great meeting this evening with US Senator Chris Coons and his delegation to discuss developments in our country,” Raila said.

“We had a fruitful discussion on the importance of upholding the constitution and the rule of law, and agreed to keep the channels of communication open.”

The meeting was also attended by the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition's top leadership, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Makau Mutua and Jeremiah Kioni, as well as the US Ambassador to Kenya, Margaret Whitman.


The meeting came as the country is experiencing some unrest because a section of Kenyans are protesting against President William Ruto’s administration over the high cost of living.

Coons also met with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and therefore sparking speculation from a section of Kenyans that another political handshake is imminent.
