Banissa Member of Parliament (MP) Kulow Maalim Hassan is dead.

According to his family, Hassan succumbed to injuries sustained in a hit-and-run by a motorcycle along Mombasa Road near South B Estate in Nairobi on Saturday.

Following the accident outside at Capital Centre, the Parliamentarian was rushed to Reliance Hospital in South C and later transferred to Aga Khan Hospital in Parklands where he passed away on Tuesday evening.

Among those who have mourned the fallen MP is Mandera West MP Adan Haji Yussuf, who sent his condolence message to the MP’s family and the people of Banissa at large.

“Maalim was a great leader and a devote Muslim who have played a pivotal role in our society,” he said.

Eldas MP Adan Keynan remembered him as an illustrious leader and a devoted public servant.

“Kulow was the epitome of an illustrious leader, a devoted public servant and an amiable figure in the community who discharged his leadership responsibilities with great honor and dexterity,” said Keynan.

The late Hassan was first elected to Parliament in to represent Banissa Constituency in 2017 and reelected in 2022.
