Safaricom Foundation has, through its Ndoto Zetu initiative, equipped four health centres and 14 schools in Uasin Gishu, Nakuru and Kericho counties to the tune of Sh8.9 million.

The initiative donated delivery beds, patient beds, a sucker, an oxygen concentrator and HP metres used in testing blood pressure to Sumeek dispensary in Rongai, Nakuru County.

The donations by the initiative are expected to bring maternity services closer to area residents and better equip the maternity wing at the center to handle emergencies.

In Kericho County, Seretut Dispensary got a delivery bed, baby bath, urometer, weighing scale and safety boots to boost the capacity of women to safely deliver closer to home.

Kapsitwet Centre in Trans Nzoia County got a bed, baby cot and a room heater for the maternal unit to improve the newborn unit and newborn mortality rates in the area.

Enaiposha Girl’s Secondary School in Nakuru County, Kipsangui Girls’ Secondary in Uasin Gishu County and Kimoson Primary School in Kericho County are among eight schools that each got 10,000-litre water tanks to help in water harvesting and storage.

Safaricom Foundation says the initiatives are part of its ongoing commitment to transforming the lives of Kenyans in all the 47 counties by improving health and education.

“We aim to increase access to quality reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health services in Kenya,” said Safaricom Foundation chairman Joseph Ogutu.

He added, “As a Foundation, we are also keen in ensuring that students have a conducive learning environment, by having access to amenities such as clean water.”

Ndoto Zetu is Safaricom Foundation’s flagship philanthropic initiative, which appeals to Kenyans to partner with the Foundation to realise their community dreams and aspirations.

Safaricom Foundation will in the next two months unveil more than 400 Ndoto Zetu projects in health, education and economic empowerment worth Sh100 million targeting two million beneficiaries.
