Police in Kiambu arrested two individuals in the Rwasumali area and recovered 30 freshly slaughtered donkey carcasses and meat stashed in sacks destined for various markets.

The two suspects were apprehended after they were discovered at the scene stuffing donkey meat into the sacks.

The officers had acted on a tipoff from concerned members of the public who provided the intel on the suspects and their illicit operation.

According to the police report, the two suspects believed to be part of a larger syndicate involved in the illegal trade.

“Our preliminary investigations indicate that the two are part of a larger syndicate involved in the theft of donkeys from other counties,” the police said.

During the operation, police also impounded two Toyota Probox vehicles that the suspects used to transport the donkey meat to various destinations.

The suspects were processed and arraigned in court.

The police lauded Kiambu residents who provided the intel on the suspects and their illegal business.

“We laud the residents of Kiambu for providing information that led to the recovery and arrest of the suspects,” the police said.
