Kenyan Netflix subscribers have a reason to smile after the company announced a significant reduction of their monthly subscription charges across all plans.

Netflix announced on Tuesday that the monthly subscription charges will be reduced immediately, with existing customers receiving the update in the coming weeks beginning with their next billing cycle.

According to Netflix, their mobile plan subscribers will now pay Sh200 from Sh300 and the basic plan subscribers will pay Sh300 instead of Sh700.

Standard plan subscribers will pay Sh700 per month, down from Sh1,100 previously, while Premium plan subscribers, who previously paid Sh1,450, will now pay Sh1,000.

“Today, we’re updating the pricing of our plans to Mobile Sh200, Basic Sh300, Standard Sh700, and Premium Sh1100 in Kenya to deliver all your favourite TV shows and movies at an even better value!” Netflix announced.

“Our goal is simple: to offer a wide variety of quality shows and films, curated for you. So whatever your mood or tastes, you can find something that’s right to watch.”

The update in subscription fees will also affect Netflix customers in the Sub-Saharan Africa.

This is a plus for Netflix because many Kenyans who have access to streaming devices are likely to subscribe to any of their packages.
