Kenya Kwanza has appointed Kenyan celebrities, including Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill, Carol Radul, Azziad Nasenya Denis Itumbi, Julius Yego, Akothee, Jimmy Gathu and Boniface Ambani among others to the newly established Talanta Hela Council.

The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, the Arts, and Sports, Ababu Namwamba in a gazette notice published on Friday announced the establishment of the Talanta Hela Council and two technical committees under it; one for creatives and the other one for sports.

“IT IS notified for general information of the public that following the Presidential pronouncement on the 12th December, 2022, of Government plans to revitalise Sports and the Creative Economy through the revolutionary Talanta Hela initiative, the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Arts and Sports has established Talanta Hela Council and its Technical Committees for Sports and the Creatives, respectively,” the gazette notice read in part.

Namwamba will head the Council which comprises David Langat, Debra Mallowah, Abraham Kipyego Mutai, Charles Gacheru, Claudia Naisabwa Leshomoo, Nobert Ouma, June Chepkemei and Dennis Itumbi as its members.

Churchill will chair the Creatives Technical Committee whose members include people from the creative industry such as Akinyi Odongo, Jimmi Gathu, Catherine Kamau, Esther Akoth (Akothee), Kizito Makhande, Azziad Nasenya, Rosemary Wahu Kagwi, Awadhi Salim, Awadhi, Douglas Kipkirui Langat, and Susan Ekasiba.

Renowned sports journalist Radul will chair the Sports Technical Committee and members of the committee include; Boniface Ambani, Olympic medalist Julius Kiplagat Yego, Neddy Kutsuru, Alfred Makotsi, Sammy Tiyoi Shollei, Collins Kale, Kevin Mutai, Shilovelo Winna Shilavula, Daniel Nakeor Losiru, and Staicy Shariffa Ochieng.

According to the gazette notice, the term of the council will span a period of three years.
