Langata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o was on Thursday ejected from a retreat organized by Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party after ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga arrived.

According to Jalang’o, who spoke outside the venue at Maanzoni in Machakos County, a security guard asked him to leave the hall immediately Raila arrived to chair the meeting.

His ejection came after some guards manning the entrance blocked him from entering the meeting hall leading to a clash with his security detail forcing one of his guards to draw a gun but was urged against using it by his colleague.

However, with the intervention of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, the situation was deflated and he was eventually allowed into the meeting room before his later exit.

“I came here because I am a member of ODM and a member of Azimio. When we came in there are boys who blocked me and said I would not come in. and after that I was allowed in,” said Jalang’o.

Speaking on the ejection debacle, Jalang’o expressed his despondency with the decision to be sent out of the meeting chaired by Raila to chat the way forward for the Azimio brigade.

“When Baba walked in one of his close security asked me to walk out. That’s what happened, I walked out. I feel sad because you know I love Baba. I am a member of ODM, I really feel bad,” said the first term MP.

He, however, says he does not regret meeting President William Ruto at State House Nairobi on Tuesday, in a move that has seen him bashed and blocked from the meeting.

“I can’t regret meeting the president. I had gone there (State House) in my own capacity and it’s because they had called me for development issues. I feel bad that I can’t attend the meeting while Baba is here,” he opined.

An unapologetic Jalang’o has brushed off any attempts that might be there to expel him from the party over the State House meeting with Ruto alongside eight other ODM MPs.

“To apologise, having met the president? There’s no apology about it, I went there for development. You don’t apologise when you have gone and you have been called. I might not be the first person, neither will I be the last person to be kicked out of the party,” he vowed.

The MP has faced a backlash from ODM and Azimio leadership for meeting Ruto after Raila and the coalition party had warned its members against fraternizing with the government.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, ODM criticized the MPs from Nyanza region led by Jalang’o saying their action went against the party position and the Kenyan electorate.

The other ODM MPs who were in the meeting also attended by ICT CS Eliud Owalo are Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East), Caroli Omondi (Suba-South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Paul Abuor (Rongo), Mark Nyamita (Uriri) and Walter Owino (Awendo).
