More than 30 MPs from Jubilee Party have ignored Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja and pledged to work President Willliam Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza coalition administration.

The MPs were led by National Assembly Deputy Minority Whip Sabina Chege and EALA MP Kanini Kega in their State House Nairobi meeting with Dr Ruto and DP Rigathi Gachagua.

The lawmakers from the party led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta have vowed to ignore the threats by Raila’s Azimio coalition party and work with Kenya Kwanza coalition.

President Ruto said the more than 30 Jubilee Party MPs he met have pledged to work with his Kenya Kwanza Government to help it in “advancing its development agenda.”

“We have intentionally chosen to prioritize finding solutions to the urgent challenges facing our country. Working together ensures the needs of the people are the number one priority in the development discourse of our nation,” said the Head of State.

The Wednesday meeting comes barely a fortnight after Ruto and Gachagua hosted some Jubilee MPs, who pledged their support for their government despite opposition by Azimio.

The meeting comes only a day after the President and his deputy met nine ODM MPs from Nyanza who also pledged to work with the government amid protests from Raila’s party.

The ODM MPs were Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Kisumu Senator Prof Tom Ojienda, Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Paul Abuor (Rongo), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem) and Mark Nyamita (Uriri).
