Motorists were stranded in heavy traffic for hours after riders on two boda boda motorcycles collided head-on seriously injuring three people on the Gataka-Rongai Road in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County on Tuesday evening.
Traffic came to a standstill as their fellow riders blocked the busy road and made frantic efforts to rescue the two boda boda riders and one pilon passenger and rush them to hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, one of the boda boda was heading towards Gataka from Ongata Rongai with one pillion passenger while the other carrying crates of alcohol was heading in the opposite direction before they collided as they both tried to overlap.
The three people involved in the accident, who sustained serious injuries, were rushed by Good Samaritans in two different vehicles to hospital in the nearby Ongata Rongai for emergency treatment.
Movement was restricted for more than an hour on the road majorly used by motorists heading to Ongata Rongai to beat the heavy morning and evening traffic on Magadi Road with those overlapping making matters worse.
