The National Health Insurance Fund has addressed reports across social media that former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ‘Linda Mama’ cover had been discontinued.

This comes after reports surfaced across social media insinuating that President William Ruto’s administration had scrapped the ‘Linda Mama’ mama program, a publicly funded health scheme that will ensure that pregnant women and infants have access to quality and affordable health services.

NHIF in a statement released on Monday said it has noted the reports and dismissed them as false.

"Attention is drawn to recent false social media messages purporting the discontinuity of the government-funded Linda Mama program," NHIF said.

"NHIF wishes to assure the public that the cover is still active as mothers continue to benefit massively."

The program provides a package of basic health services accessed by all in the targeted population based on need and not ability to pay, positioning Kenya on the pathway to Universal Health Coverage (UHC)
