There has been heavy traffic on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway as Kenyans are travelling in their droves to the Western part of the country for Christmas.

The Kenya National Highways Authority KeNHA issued an advisory via its social media accounts on the traffic build-up at the section of the road between Gilgil town and the rail over road bridge.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify motorists plying or planning to use the Nairobi - Nakuru (A8) Highway of a traffic buildup between Gilgil town and the rail over road bridge as people travel for the festive season,” KeNHA said.

The authority further cautioned motorists against overlapping and urged them to exercise courtesy to avoid unnecessary delays.

Heavy traffic is expected on Kenyan major highways as Kenyans travel to various destinations for Christmas and New year celebrations.
