Interior PS Karanja Kibicho says he is suing former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko this week over his claims that they took part in stage-managing chaos that was witnessed in Nairobi after the 2017 presidential election.

Kibicho says he will sue Sonko for libel for the impeached governor to avail evidence on claims he made against him at a rally by Deputy President William Ruto and his Tanga Tanga allies in Dagoretti on Sunday.

Speaking after recording a statement at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi on Monday, he said he will go after Sonko as a private citizen for tarnishing his name.

“Enough is enough, and Sonko will provide me with answers. So, he would better prepare some good lawyers on the criminality. Of course, he has admitted that he committed crime, he’ll have to deal with it,” Kibicho said.

He added, “After he has dealt with the crimes he has publicly admitted to committing, he will have to deal with my character assassination as well. And I’m going for libel this week.”

Kibicho added that he had already recorded a statement with the DCI and had opted to pursue the matter against Sonko in his personal capacity and not as the Principal Secretary for Interior.

“I am not in DCI as PS Interior, I am there as Kibicho and Sonko shall provide me with answers if there’s law in this country. Where we were with him, all the manner of things that he has made against me. He must prove one by one.

“Because I am a Kenyan who deserves to be treated right as well.”

Sonko claimed together with the PS and members of “Deep State” and “System” they printed ODM t-shirts and bought used cars which they torched on Ngong road to stage-manage chaos and blame Raila Odinga's opposition party ODM for it.
